Here at Logical Expressions, we have been working really hard lately. The population increase, real estate boom, and so forth have increased our Web site development business dramatically. Redesigning and updating one of the two largest Sandpoint information Web portal sites didn’t hurt either 😉
In any case, doing too much Web work can kind of make your eyes cross after a while. It’s not like we’re digging ditches, but staring at a computer monitor too long and dealing with technical issues contributes to a special type of tired. I tend to think of it as Technology Overload.
When Technology Overload hits, we often tend to head to the trees, mountains, or the lake. As I told one of my clients the other day, it’s really important to always remember why we moved here. I mean, it’s all very well to live in one of the most beautiful places in North America. But if you never go out and enjoy it, what’s the point?
So on Sunday, we took our kayaks out. For those of you who weren’t here, Sunday was a gloriously beautiful day complete with picturesque puffy clouds. We threw the kayaks into the back of the truck and went to the Sunnyside boat launch. With a kayak, it doesn’t matter whether the lake level is up yet (and no, it’s not).
We carried the kayaks down to the water and plopped them in the lake. After we paddled out a bit, we realized we were completely alone. It was about as peaceful as any boating experience I’ve ever had. Imagine having an entire enormous lake to yourself. We saw an osprey circle overhead and a water bird (maybe a cormorant?) dive down for fish.
Eventually a fishing boat putted by, which did break the silence a bit. But the tranquility and relaxation was incomparable. And hey, that’s why we live here 😉
