If you have adopted a dog from a shelter or rescue, I’d love to hear about your dog for possible inspiration and inclusion in one of my upcoming Alpine Grove romantic comedies.
I finished the first draft of the sixth book in the series (Howl at the Loon) and I’m hoping it will be released sometime this summer. In that book, I introduce the fact that, like many small rural towns in the 90s, Alpine Grove has a problem with stray dogs. That story line is going to continue in (the as yet untitled) book seven, which I’m working on now.
Here’s where you come in. When I volunteered and worked with animal shelters and rescues, I discovered every dog has a story. And people who adopt pets love to tell stories about their critters. (Here are a few stories of pets I adopted, for example.)
All you have to do is post a comment with information about your dog on my blog (scroll down to the comments section). I’d like to know what type of dog you have, his/her personality and anything you know about how the dog ended up in rescue. (Funny anecdotes are welcome too!)
If I opt to include your dog in the book, you receive:
- My undying gratitude.
- Acknowledgment in the back of the book.
- Copies of my books Funds to the Rescue and Publicity to the Rescue donated to the shelter or rescue of your choice in your name (U.S. groups only, please).
And yes, it’s okay if you run the rescue group. I plan to pick two or three stories, depending on the submissions.
