As many of you know, this week I spent a lot of time answering email. The response to our small survey in last weeks’ issue was nothing short of overwhelming. The readers have spoken, and the results were interesting.
Most people (70%) consider themselves intermediate computer users, but I was surprised how many advanced users we have reading too (25%). I’m glad even the truly nerdy get something out of Logical Tips.
As for the linking issue, an overwhelming majority of people (81%) want the text to stay in the email. Many people were quite emphatic about it. A number of people said they don’t follow links and one person even said the whole linking thing just makes her dizzy. However, a small crowd does like the idea of links, so I decided I’d compromise and put them in a table of contents at the top.
A resounding chorus (89%) also wants us to keep Logical Tips a weekly. Ten percent thought twice/month would be okay and one lonely soul thought monthly would work.
Many people were incredibly sympathetic to how much work it takes to produce Logical Tips, which makes me happy. Sometimes you wonder if people really appreciate what you do, but I received so many kind words, it kinda made me blush. I also received many good topic ideas, which is extremely helpful since after writing this newsletter for six years, it can be challenging to find new ideas.
Anyway, a resounding “thank you” to all who responded. I’ll do my best to keep on making this a newsletter worth reading.
