After last week’s rant on the rude Techno-Loser, I got a *phenomenal* number of nice e-mails saying that people really do like Logical Tips. It was extremely flattering and made me feel all warm and fuzzy 😉
I thanked everyone who wrote for taking the time to let me know what they thought. And it proved what I always suspected: that most people really do like a bit of the personal touch in the all-too-impersonal Internet/computing world.
In other news, most of us in the United States have been watching with deep sadness reports of the wildfires that have raged through California. For us here at LEI, it’s particularly personal because many of the burned areas were places near where we used to live. We lived in the San Diego area for 8 years and spent many hours hiking and camping in the nearby mountains. We have a lot of really good memories of trips to the mountain towns in San Bernardino and San Diego counties.
In fact, James and I got married near the cool little town of Julian, which appears to have been spared. I was relieved to find a report online today that said the old funky lodge we got married in actually seems to have made it through unscathed.
Those of us who live amidst the trees understand why people want to live in these cool mountain towns. Given the awful fire season we’ve had throughout the West it’s scary to realize how easily it can all go up in smoke.
So my thoughts this week are with those in SoCal who have lost so much. It could happen to any of us.
