Last weekend, my big accomplishment was putting up the Computor Companion store. I did a bunch of artwork based on various Computor Companion articles. In association with CafePress.com, you can put stuff on t-shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc. I thought this concept was way too cool to pass up, so I decided to give it a shot. You can find the store by clicking the CC Store link on the Computor Companion site.
You can get a poster based on the Corporate Communication 101 article, which details how to communicate with the five corporate personality types: the Non-Reader, the E-mailer, the Explainer, the Runner, and the Worrier.
Those of us who have worked in the tech writing profession enjoyed Cynthia Daffron’s article called The Theory of Documentation . In it she talks about the joys of software documentation and life as part of the Technical Writing & Editing Research Personnel (TWERP) or Technical Writing Information Team (TWIT). Now, thanks to modern technology, we tech writers can proudly wander into tedious meetings holding our TWIT mugs high.
I also created an MCF mug based on the MCF Cosmogony article. Regular CC readers may remember that MCF stands for microchip-climbing fuzzballs, which are those clumps of hair that live in your computer. (Eww!)
Those who are mystified by e-mail may like another poster based on the E-mail Jargon article by Dian Chapman. If you wonder what all those cryptic acronyms are, put this poster on your wall for a refresher course in e-mail lingo.
Anyway, there’s more stuff too, such as mousepads and tile coasters.
I hope everyone enjoys checking out the stuff as much as I enjoyed creating it 🙂
(And if you have ideas for other computer-related items, let me know!)
