Over the last few weeks, it seems like I have spent an extraordinary amount of time reorganizing my computing life. At the same time, I have been supporting shareware companies in a big way. Since we sell shareware too (our IdeaWeaver writing/creativity software), it’s nice to support other shareware businesses.
This week, I migrated to a new email client. It’s a painful process, but it was made far less painful because of a cool little shareware tool called Aid4Mail. This program’s sole purpose in life is to convert email mailboxes from one format to another. I was impressed at how well it worked. To say I get a lot of email is a serious understatement. Plus, I save everything in gazillions of little folders. Aid4Mail converted my Barca mail into EML format, which my new email program Chaos Intellect can import.
Chaos Intellect is sort of a new permutation of a contact management program I’ve used for years called Time and Chaos. Intellect is basically the same program, but includes email as well. If you’re in the market, it’s a great replacement for Outlook. (Not to mention, a lot less expensive.)
Oh and for those that were curious about the musings from the last couple weeks:
1. Yes, I got the $2 typewriter to work thanks to a whole lot of cleaning and oil. It’s still sitting in the shop and James and I have been typing notes back and forth to each other when we go in there.
2. The new blog software isn’t online yet, but if you’re wondering about the software I mentioned last week, it’s called Subtext. I transferred all the old data and have a new design that I like a lot better than the old WordPress one. We should be able to get the new one online next week.
In other news, we released a new version of IdeaWeaver with a ton of cool new features.
