Sorting socks has got to be one of life’s most boring activities. But the alternative is just chucking the whole pile in a drawer and then spending 10 minutes every morning in quasi-darkness trying to find two socks that match. Or going out into the world wearing mismatched socks. Life is full of choices I guess.
Laundry is just inherently dull. But the alternative is wandering around in dirty clothes. Eventually you start to smell, so people avoid you. At some point, if you want to have any friends, you make another choice to (eventually) do your laundry.
My choice this time around was to wait to do laundry until it had reached a critical state. When you are wearing your last pair of clean underwear, okay, it’s *really* time to do laundry.
I suppose it’s probably good that today turned out to be laundry day. I’m having one of those brain-dead, spaced out, might be getting sick, sort of depressed, non-productive afternoons. Fortunately, I got all my client work sent out this morning back when I had a functional brain.
Being brain dead really stinks for creative work like writing, editing, design, and desktop publishing. But it’s not so bad for sorting socks 😉
