This week was notable because it had a holiday in it. Here in the US, Thursday was Thanksgiving. As vegetarians, we don’t do the traditional turkey, but we do have the stuffing, mashed potatoes and so forth. Yes you can still do some mighty fine eating without having to cook that big ole turkey. I’m still full.
This year we had some friends over for the vegetarian eating fest. They have three golden retrievers, which they brought with them. Along with our four dogs that made *seven* retrievers in the house. It was quite a canine extravaganza. As any dog owner can tell you, a tired dog is a good dog, so job one was to take all seven hounds out into the forest for a long run.
We have cut a trail along part of the new property, so the hounds got to explore all 40 acres. It was pretty exciting stuff for them. (The level of canine sniffing and snorffling was considerable.) All the dogs were quite good about sticking to the trail and we all made it home without incident.
Later, canines and humans had a big dinner and then reclined in front of the fireplace. It’s easy to feel very thankful when you are surrounded by a lot of fur and warmth 🙂
