I had sort of a rough week this week. Sometimes business can be frustrating and depressing and I let it get to me. So around midweek, I was feeling pretty down. The fact that it has rained for what seems like forever definitely did not help. Maybe it’s just the quasi-Spring sucking-mud blues.
Fortunately, I have dogs and friends to help take me out of my funks. I realized that part of my grumpiness was because I had to keep the canines out of my office early this week. Over the weekend, I started a sewing project. Unfortunately, I sew in my office and make a huge mess. Hounds, thread, pins, and needles do not mix, so I put up a baby gate to keep the canine team out of my office.
The project lasted beyond the weekend and I finally finished it Wednesday. I cleaned up the mess, and the hounds returned to their normal posts, i.e. sleeping all over my floor. Few things are as soothing as the sound of snoring hounds. Even now, piles of fur are littering my office as I write. Apparently, being able to reach over and pet some fur is a part of my office life now and I miss it when it’s not there.
To further improve my mood, today a friend and I went out to lunch. Afterward, we went thrift shopping, which is seriously inexpensive entertainment. I found a leather jacket for $2.50 and an old manual Royal typewriter for $2.00. The typewriter is totally filthy, but it looks almost like the one my Dad had when I was growing up, so I just couldn’t resist it. Even though there was driving rain and dismal gray outside, getting out and about was good.
So it seems that during the bleak rains of Spring, I need fuzzy critters and outings to remain happy.
