Rain, Projects, and the Return of the Programmer

Our recent run of bad weather isn’t doing much for my productivity today. Somehow the days and days of rain have culminated this week with a yearning to curl up and do nothing. Plus, with a number of our clients, we’re sort of in a holding pattern. We have four or five websites that are kind of about to happen, but not quite here yet because we’re waiting for a deposit or more information to move forward.

Even the dogs are sluggish. There was a break in the downpours, so the canines and I headed out for the afternoon walkie. Normally, there’s a lot of dopey doggie romping, barking and general enthusiasm during the walk. Today, I kept having to encourage the crew to keep it moving along. Afterward, the all-furry team decided it was time for another sleep-fest. So much for exercise.

In other news, I am happy to report that our programmer is returning to the LEI fold. Yes, James is going to be working for Logical Expressions full time again. We have a huge number of projects in the works and I can’t wait to have some help getting them out there into the big world. I’m beyond thrilled that he’s going to be in the next office again.

On a more personal level, we’re also looking forward to having more time to do things other than work. Part of the joy of being self-employed is having a flexible schedule. Once James returns, we hope to have more time to enjoy the beautiful area we live in. So if it rains all weekend (as it has here for what seems like AGES) we might just work a few hours on the weekend and take an afternoon off during the week when the weather is good to go do something fun. That’s what voice mail is for after all.

And just for the record, if the LEI corporate officers are out recreating, whether it’s hiking, gardening, kayaking, skiing, or sailing, even if we have a cell phone with us, it certainly won’t be on 😉
