It is supposed to be a season of joy. Yet as you stroll through store aisles, you don’t always see joy. You see a bunch of stressed out people. Not everyone gets into the spirit of the holidays. But if you want to see pure joy, I suggest you look down. Your dog knows how to be happy.
As soon as our dogs hear James’ truck in the driveway, or his footsteps on the front porch, great joy ensues. The all-furry team barks with glee, and all four wag their tails so hard, it turns into a sea of flailing fur. Tika, the golden retriever gets so excited, she does a full-body wag where her entire hind end waves back and forth.
When the dogs hear the clatter of the metal bowls as I take them out of the pantry, great joy ensues. Cami races around the kitchen island two or three times and bumps a bar stool with her nose just so she can hear the big thump. (Yes, she did knock it over once, which was undoubtedly a little embarrassing for her.)
So if you aren’t feeling the holiday spirit, go home. Be greeted by your dog. Experience the thrill of homecoming and the daily feeding event. Your dog lives in the moment and loves you without reservations. And that’s definitely not a bad thing at all.
All Logical Expressions online newsletters are going out a day early this week, so we can spend the holidays with our family. For a little more holiday cheer, check out the festive card featuring Cami, the wooly white dog, our company mascot.
Happy holidays everyone 😉
