And so ends another lazy week of summer. Unlike many parts of the country, the weather here in the Idaho Panhandle has been beautiful…blue skies and temperatures in the mid 70s. I’ve also read a number of reports that we aren’t the only ones revelling in the lack of insect life this year. Apparently, throughout the Northwest, this is the first summer in recent memory that has been relatively free of mosquitoes. It’s bizarre. Normally, we spend all summer smelling like DEET. I guess the drought is good for one thing anyway.
The other mysterious development I’ve noticed is that at some point we became the only humans on the planet who return phone calls. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but when people leave me messages on my voice mail, I call them back. It seems it would be common courtesy, but apparently not. I’m curious if anyone else has this experience or if it’s just me. Maybe I don’t leave enticing voice mail messages or something. I just don’t know.
In mildly more nerdy news, we bought the domain name www.pet-tails.com so now all my old pet care columns are online and searchable on their very own site. I’ve also got links to some of my favorite pet-related web sites and books as well. And on a personal note…if you scroll down to the bottom of the opening page, you’ll see a photo of our dog Cami’s smiling face. So with that…happy tails to you 🙂
