It has been a long week with very few nerdy happenings because I spent most of it helping my Mom move. Today we took the day off and went on a hike. It was a fine thing to visit the trees after days and days of packing and heavy lifting.
Moving is one of those loathsome experiences that becomes exponentially worse the older you get. Over the years, most people tend to accumulate more stuff. As you pack, you discover all sorts of things you forgot you owned. And a lot of stuff you don’t need. During our marathon packing event, we discovered that Mom had duplicate items scattered around the house.
After this moving experience, I have to say I’m a big fan of the concept of the garage sale. You just put your old stuff out in the garage, run an ad, and make it go away. Because the less you move, the less you have to pack, and the less you have to lift. Ebay is another fine option too, assuming any of your stuff is worth bidding on.
And when you’re done, you also know that you only have ONE of everything 🙂
