This week was another big one in terms of new Logical Tips subscribers. One of our articles was linked from Fred Langa’s ezine (http://www.langa.com/newsletters/2003/2003-05-01.htm) which caused a flurry of activity on our sites. For me personally, it’s really exciting because I’ve been reading Fred’s articles for years. (If you read Windows or Byte magazines, you might have read his stuff too.)
In any case, a big welcome to all you new folks!
Because we have so many new subscribers, I thought I’d point out something that has been on my mind lately. As most of our long-term subscribers know, we send out this ezine on Friday evenings. Through weather oddities, sickness, and gloom of night, Logical Tips still goes out. (Okay, a couple times it has gone out early Saturday morning because of a hideous technical glitch or something, but for the most part Friday is the day.) So if you don’t get this newsletter for some reason, it’s probably not us. It may be your spam filtering.
If, like the rest of the known universe, you are sick of spam and have installed any type of filter, Logical Tips may be getting caught in it. Unfortunately, as a small enterprise, I can’t monitor every possible spam filtering system and customize this ezine to suit it. We know you opted in; you know you opted in, but the spam filter doesn’t.
Filtering is extremely imprecise, and if you want to make sure you get a newsletter, sometimes you need to put it on a "white list" (i.e. a list of e-mail you want) in order to get it. Sometimes your Internet Service Provider (ISP) installs spam filters too, so even if *you* haven’t filtered out Logical Tips, maybe your ISP has done it for you.
Spam affects everyone, and ISPs are struggling to deal with this ever-growing problem. You may need to communicate with your provider to find out how you can make sure you can still get all the e-mail you really want to receive.
