A couple of days ago, I got an e-mail from my cousin with a subject line of "I hate winter." Now, normally at the end of November, I would be seriously relating to this sentiment as I shovel huge piles of snow. But this November, we’re having Spring-like rain and the accompanying road disintegration.
I had to drive back and forth to town quite a bit this week, so I got to get up close and personal with the local road craters. That is until yesterday, when the road grading machines came by and turned the holes into a giant swamp of sucking mud.
The other side-effect of all this rain is an incredible absence of anything resembling sunlight. I’m starting to feel like a mushroom. (Hey, it’s not such a far fetched statement, since mushrooms really ARE springing up all over the forest.)
And speaking of the forest. Yet another side-effect of all this rain is an incredible quantity of dirt and forest crud coming into our house. Rain means mud, which means dirty dogs. Dirty dogs bring lots of mud in on their fur. When the mud dries and falls off the dog, it lands on the floor.
Let’s just say that it’s a good thing that the housekeeping police don’t tend to hang out around here 🙂
