As many people know, the Tales from the Mousepad column appears in our local newspaper on Sunday before it goes out as part of CCTips on Friday. This week’s column was basically a Nerdy Musing that got out of hand. Last Friday I realized I had no column for the newspaper to run on Sunday, so I fired over my quasi-rant.
Anyway, the good news is that it generated a lot of feedback. The bad news is that before you ask…no, you can’t download only headers in Outlook Express. (Or, more precisely, I couldn’t figure out a way…if anyone can, please tell me.) This limitation is one reason, I don’t use that particular e-mail program. (Full-blown Outlook can do it, by the way.) In any case, due to the large number of responses, I wrote a follow up column, which will run next week. So stay tuned.
In less nerdy matters, this week some friends and I decided to have lunch in a foreign country. We drove up to Canada for the afternoon and had lunch in Creston, B.C. After lunch, we had a fine old time buying stuff. Thanks to the exchange rate, you can get some good deals by shopping up North. I found some 60%-off Sorel snow boots, which you can no longer buy since Sorel went out of business. Anyway with the big sale and exchange rate, the $100 boots ended up being about $25 US. Very Cool.
Anyway, killer deals aside, the trees are currently showing off their Fall colors, so it was a really pretty drive too. Sometimes it’s good to just take the afternoon off and go on a road trip 🙂
