This week, Logical Tips is going out a little earlier than usual so I can determine if it really goes anywhere. This week has been one of extreme e-mail badness. It seems periodically we have some dreadful problem with e-mail and this week was the lucky winner.
For some Logical Tips readers, the problem has been lurking for a while. Our mail server apparently had some issue, so some people, but not ALL people, haven’t been getting the newsletter for the past couple of weeks.
This type of e-mail problem is hugely frustrating because there’s nothing to track. With some things you can scrutinize headers or check various online sites for information. When some people get the newsletter and some people don’t for no apparent reason, you got a whole lotta nothing when it comes to troubleshooting. The problem got really bad when it started to affect not just the newsletter, but ALL my e-mail.
Suffice it to say, it’s been a bad few weeks for communication. I’m a wee bit hysterical when it comes to answering my e-mail, and most people know that I answer virtually all e-mail within 24 hours. So having clients say, "oh I never got that" was disturbing to say the least.
In any case, thanks to some help from our hosting company, we have moved our mail to a new server. That may help the Logical Tips problem too. But if that doesn’t work, we have a plan "B" for the newsletters. If I get no indication that it went out, we’ll move it to a different type of dedicated newsletter system.
So if you get Logical Tips twice, that’s why. But everyone cross your fingers that we don’t have to do that and the problem is really and truly fixed.
For those of you that may have missed an issue or two, they’re all online at http://www.logicaltips.com. And a big thank you to those of you who took the time to write in to tell me your Logical Tips had "gone missing." You know who you are 😉
