This week has been a week of many deadlines and great technological advancements. Last Friday, I had an article due. Then Monday, I had 11 articles due. Tuesday another was due, and today two more, for a grand total of 15 articles. I’m sort of sick of writing at the moment, so this missive may be brief. But I got some great kudos from three new clients. Here’s an excerpt:
“Excellent work! Your article…is exactly the type of writing we are looking for; friendly tone, solid information, just perfect. Thank you very much.”
I have to say, I love that kind of feedback!
In news of a more nerdy persuasion, we now have RSS feeds for all our sites. Some of you may remember that I wrote about RSS readers a while ag. So now, if you prefer, you can read content from all our sites through an RSS reader. Just click the orange RSS button in the menu bar of any of our sites and you’ll find a page with the information.
Personally, I haven’t found a reader I love yet, but to see how RSS works, there’s a free one you can run through your Web browser called RocketInfo. Many other readers are available. Some work with Outlook Express or other e-mail clients, and some are stand-alone.
It was a busy week, but by far the most exciting thing was getting satellite Internet on Tuesday. Getting a satellite signal when you live in the middle of a forest is no mean trick. But the installers were great and Wednesday it worked fine until the evening when it started to rain outside. Thursday, it rained all day and the satellite modem was dead. So I called the satellite people. But this morning, the modem was back with a vengeance. (800K download speeds…yowza!) So I called off the satellite people.
Okay, some of you in the know on all things satellite may be thinking “rain fade” but no, that’s not the problem. The signal was totally and completely dead, not weak. It turns out that the rain weighs down the branches of a nearby tree right into our signal.
So this weekend, James is going to deal with that technological problem using his chain saw. We won’t have any shortage of firewood this winter and awesome broadband connections shall be mine!
