Today’s big news is that the Summer 2002 issue of Computor Companion magazine is live! (Check it out at http://www.computorcompanion.com). I’m feeling pretty good about that. But as always, I’m indebted to the great group of writers we have who are willing to share their knowledge with the online computing community.
It’s not a big secret that along with computers, I like critters. (The fact that I have so many and talk about them all the time is probably a big clue.) This week, along with my many nerdy writing tasks, I also did quite a bit of online research into low-cost spay/neuter funds around the country.
Like many areas of the U.S., the Inland Northwest suffers from a tremendous pet overpopulation problem. As many people may know, I volunteered at an animal shelter for a number of years, so I saw first-hand what happens to all those unwanted cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens. Millions of animals are euthanized every year in shelters because people do not spay or neuter their pets. It’s a tragically preventable problem.
I’m one of a group of animal lovers who are interested in starting a low-cost fund to help people "fix" their pets. Like me, they are all doing a lot of research into programs, grants, and legal issues. So if anyone out there has good links or contact information about sucessful spay/neuter programs in your neighborhood, please pass them on. And any local folks who are interested in finding out more about what we’re up to or even helping out, please let me know 🙂
