Last week’s article about sending images in Outlook Express generated quite a bit of commentary. I learned from a few readers that the right-click trick also works for America Online (AOL) and Mozilla Thunderbird. One person insisted that it works for any email client, and I can attest that it doesn’t. I use an email program called Barca and right-clicking on an image and doing Send to Mail Recipient does nothing.
Because so many email clients exist, I never make blanket assumptions that things will work across all of them. Along the same lines, I wrote an article on how to create email-compatible HTML newsletters in the new Summer 2006 issue of Computor Companion, which I just put online this morning.
This issue of CC has some other cool articles as well, including info on the upcoming Office 2007, ripping music CDs, and my method for labeling a whole lot of file folders using Word’s mail merge feature.
In other big news, we have passed all the criteria and are now official Microsoft Certified Partners with an ISV Software Solutions Competency. ISV stands for Independent Software Vendor and technically, it means we have earned enough points from “tested products” (our IdeaWeaver software in this case) and customer references to become a certified partner. It also means the UPS man brought us a HUGE box from Microsoft today.
We had all kinds of fun looking through all our goodies. We got two plaques, a banner, and vast amounts of software. It was a moment of big nerd nirvana. Because only “certified” partners can use the MS logo, I also went to the Microsoft Partner site to go build my logo. You can bet that after all the effort it took to get certified that the logo is going to get quite a workout 😉
