Now that the print version of the Art of Wag is in layout, I’ve gone through all the entries in the Name the Kennel contest.
We had 65 great suggestions, and through a process of elimination, we narrowed down the name to just one [drum roll, please]:
Wag on Inn
However, the person who submitted it, Daniel R. Marvello, is another author who writes for Magic Fur Press, so it’s probably some kind of conflict of interest to give him the gift certificate.
Because another submission from Caroline Grimm, “Poopenbarker’s,” truly made me laugh out loud, I decided to rewrite the scene to include it. My books are romantic comedies, after all, so it seems fitting that Caroline should receive the gift certificate. Here’s the scene as it reads now:
Michael pointed at Kat, “So did you decide what to name the boarding kennel yet?”
Kat said, “Well, Maria suggested Poopenbarker’s, which technically may be accurate, but I’m leaning toward Wag on Inn, which sounds a little more welcoming.
Congrats Caroline! May you buy lots of books, so you can curl up next to a cozy fireplace this winter with fine new reading material.
Several other names receive honorable mentions just because I thought they were cool and/or cater to the fact that I like the word hound:
- Hound Hideaway – James Byrd
- Hound Haven – Daniel R. Marvello
- Fur Oasis – Sherri Hodge – I liked it, but couldn’t use it because there’s already a bar in the books called the Fern Oasis
- Hounds Abound Kennels – Patti Amador
Honorable mentions will receive a free ebook version of Art of Wag when it comes out (Kindle or EPUB).
Thanks to all for playing!
