I hope everyone had a fun Fourth of July. Although we didn’t venture out for the fireworks, we did attend our neighborhood potluck. We had a good time and some fine food. One of our neighbors makes cream puffs that have become legendary in our neck of the woods. As always, they were truly outstanding. I may have to wait a year for them, but they’re worth it.
This week, my strawberry patch also started to produce. I have to say that there’s something really satisfying about foraging for berries for your breakfast. I’m sure it’s some primal thing, but few things are as good as a sun-warmed, organically grown strawberry that you just picked.
Good food is another reason to like summer around here. Gardens are producing and the Farmer’s Market is hopping. We’re hoping to get into town early tomorrow so we can toddle on over to Farmin Park and see what’s happening food-wise this week. Almost every week is different, and it’s always fun to see the incredible variety of plants and produce from the local farms.
