This week, a person left the Sandpoint Insider list apparently because he was offended that I said “Happy Cinco de Mayo” in the last issue. Comments like that just confuse me. I mean, was he offended because he has something against Mexico or hispanics? Does he think mentioning non-U.S. holidays is unpatriotic? I have no idea, and frankly, I’m not too worried about pleasing someone with that limited a viewpoint.
However, every time I get some weirdo comment like that, I do think about the future of my email newsletters. Realistically, they take a lot of time to write. Summer is approaching. I’m extremely over-extended, and I’d like to spend more time enjoying this beautiful area I live in.
As a result, we are thinking of switching the Insider to a twice/month newsletter. That way, our Pet Tails newsletter and the Insider would run on alternate weeks and I wouldn’t end up having to do three at once like I am this week. (Logical Tips is also weekly.) We’ll probably switch it soon, so I can get the timing synched with the other newsletter.
As for Sandpoint, the primaries are coming up, and signs are dotting the valley. This year we have someone running that was in office before and was voted out.
It makes me think of people who marry the same person twice. For example, Elizabeth Taylor married Richard Burton twice. Neither union ended well, and failure on the second marital endeavor doesn’t seem to be unusual. Realistically, if you didn’t get along the first time, why would you think you’d get along on the second try? In much the same way, if someone was booted from office, why would you want him back?
