When you live in a somewhat remote area, sometimes you have to go to extra lengths for services some people take for granted. Today, for example, UPS called me and said they had an overnight package that arrived at their office on a late plane. The package missed the truck that comes out here to the sticks, so I could either wait until next week or drive 20 miles to their office in town.
The package contained something I really wanted, so I negotiated with UPS. As it turned out, a truck was heading north, so we compromised. They threw the package on the truck, and I jumped into my car and met the UPS truck at a gas station.
After I got my package, I was driving home, enjoying the incredible summer weather. It’s been so rainy for so long that my garden went in very late. I figured that since I was already out and about, I’d just pick up a few fire sale perennials for my flower bed. A mere $13.02 later and with my plants safely ensconced in my car, I decided to finally open my package.
For those who don’t know, seeing the first copy of your new book is a thrilling experience. The package I drove miles to get contains the pre-release proof of our new book Vegan Success: Scrumptious, Healthy Vegan Recipes for Busy People. It basically answers a question we get a lot: “what do you eat?”
Anyway, as most people know, I’ve written other books in the past, but this one is special because it’s the first (of we hope many) books that we’re publishing ourselves. Seeing how the design and text came out is really exciting. If you’re interested in the book, please send me an email. We plan to offer a special first-run “discount code” for Logical Tips readers, so if you’re interested in vegetarian cooking, let me know and I’ll put your name on the list.
