Spring is in the Air

Spring is in the air and the snow is melting. It’s been sunny all week and I’ve been really enjoying it. In fact, I saw my first tulips poking out. Okay, they are very tiny, partially eaten tulip sprouts, but tulips nonetheless. Since I’ve noticed their presence in the emerging garden bed, I’ve been diligently sprinking cayenne pepper on them. Whatever eats them doesn’t like them spicy.

Since I’m in such a good mood, here’s a quickie tip. I’ve probably written about it before, but we’ve had a lot of new subscribers recently, so it might help someone out there. A friend of mine asked me this question the other day:

"Is there anyway to delete a bunch of items without having to do it one by one."

And this was my response:

Yes. In a list, you can hold down the Shift key to select contiguous files. Or you can hold down the Control key to select multiple files that aren’t next to each other in the list. Once they are selected, then you press the Delete key.

By "list" I mean a list of files. So suppose you have these files:

file1.doc
file2.doc
file3.doc
file4.doc

You’d hold down the Shift key and click file1.doc and file4.doc and those two files and everything in between (file2.doc and file3.doc) are selected. Or if you want to select ONLY file1.doc and file4.doc, you’d hold down the Ctrl key and click.

Once files are selected, you press the Delete key to ditch ’em.

And with that, I’ll go enjoy some more sunlight now. The good weather is probably going away, so I need to get myself some Vitamin D conversion before it snows again. I’ve lived here long enough to know that there’s at least one more slushy snowstorm in our future.
