This week it has finally felt like spring. When spring arrives so do the flowers and all the things that want to eat your flowers. After witnessing some crocus destruction, I decided it was time to take action. Last year’s garden was marred by various critters getting in, around (under?) the fence, so this year I’ve decided to take steps to keep the wildlife away from my plants.
For many years, we’ve put up a 6-foot chicken wire fence to keep out the deer. But the bottom has been deteriorating. Hence the varmint invasion last summer.
So we got some smaller chicken wire to run along the bottom of the garden fence. The new fence is designed to work in conjunction with the old fence to keep out Mister Bunny and other varmints.
I have half the anti-varmint fence set up so far. The other half is gonna go up this weekend. Here’s hoping Mister Bunny sticks to Easter Eggs and leaves my flowers alone!
